Are We Good Samaritans | Blessed Magazine

The Good SamaritanBut a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him – Luke 10:33

How many of us have had the opportunity to help someone, but chose not to due to being either selfish or thought to ourself that we just didn’t have the time?

Jesus told of a certain man who fell among thieves.  As he lay near dying, a priest came by and when he say the man decided to passed on the other side to avoid lending a helping hand.  Likewise, a Levite saw the man and did as the priest and passed on the other side.  Story goes on to tell that a Samaritan came and when he saw the man, he had compassion and rescued the man

This parable was told because like the people in whom Jesus was referring to then, someone of us are doing exactly as the priest and Levite.  Pretending as if we don’t see and refusing to help others when we have the means

Jesus is a giving Savior and we must pattern ourselves like Him

When we give of ourselves freely without remorse or grudging, we release the Lord to reign down blessings in our name.  Being stingy only brings on heartache whether it be financially, emotional or physical

Let’s strive to be Good Samaritans as much as we can in Jesus name!

Setting Yourself Free – Forgiving | Blessed Magazine

forgive-clubThen came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?  Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven – Matthew 18:21-22

How many times have we been hurt, betrayed or sabotaged in our lives?  Some of us can count on one hand, while others need a complete notebook, but no matter how many times you have been in these situations, it is imperative to your salvation to forgive and move on

Forgiving someone for wronging us may seem difficult at first because the pain of the ordeal is so great, but if we want to truly please God and ensure that we make it to heaven, we must forgive quickly and without regret or vindication

Jesus answered Peter that no matter how many times our brother (and this means anyone in our life) who wrongs us, we must continue forgiving them

Why do we need to forgive?  Is it just to ensure that we are doing our godly duty?  Is it to ensure that we make it to heaven?  It’s all that and this; forgiving others when they hurt us ensures that they hold no power over us.  When we allow someone to hold power over our lives, we are not free to do what we need to do for ourselves and definitely not for God.  Forgiving releases us from the bonds of the enemy.  As Believers in the faith, we should not allow anything to stand between us and the joy and peace that Jesus so freely gives to His people

Next time someone does something to hurt us, we should quickly forgive and move on with our lives.  No one is worth our happiness and definitely not worth us going to eternal damnation

Stay Blessed!

Our Everlasting Father | Blessed Magazine

40_Weapons_To_De_4cee66b84420c-250One of the most unique relationships in life is that of a Father with his children. Dads tend to be tough on the outside but are almost always tender on the inside when it comes to their kids. Dads ache when their children ache, they feel a sense of pride when their children excel and will do anything in their power to help their kids accomplish what they want to accomplish

I realize that some Fathers are not this way. Some fathers see their children as an inconvenience.  Some are more harsh than soft. I know some people feel they have worked hard all their life but cannot do anything to please their dads.  I know those people exist, but they really are the exception rather than the rule

I draw your attention to the relationship that a Father has with his children because the title of Jesus that we are examining is the title, “Everlasting Father”.  And in this title we see the compassion and love of our Savior

It is easy to get sidetracked when we talk about Jesus as the “everlasting father”. How can the Son be the Father? As soon as you ask that question you step into the minefield that we like to call the doctrine of the Trinity. Scripture affirms that there is one God who is manifest in three distinct and separate “persons” or personalities: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  The Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit and the Spirit is not the Father. But they are all one God!

Jesus is not called Everlasting Father because there is confusion about the nature of God the Father and God the Son. Jesus is called the everlasting Father because of His father-like qualities.  He is still God the Son, but His love and grace is like that of a Father with his children

Let’s take a look at 3 qualities Jesus displays on being our ‘Everlasting Father’

1. He has given us life

2. He provides for us

3.  He care about us

The Bible tells us that the Savior loved us before the creation of the earth.  In fact, it was His love for us that brought Him to earth and led Him to the cross.  He loved us in spite of what we had done. His commitment to us is sure.

You may feel that you deserve for God to cast you away. You may be so ashamed of what you have done that you wonder if He could ever love you again. He can.  He has never stopped loving you. Turn from your sin and like the Prodigal son . . .return to the One who has been waiting with open arms

The Fish and the Fisherman | Blessed Magazine

fisherman_1256385One day while sitting in church, I asked the Lord, “Why haven’t I been blessed with the Holy Ghost?”  As soon as I thought it in my spirit, God answered me with this:

You’re like a fish on my hook, but you keep fighting me because you are afraid of dying, but dying is the beginning of living

After receiving this within my spirit, I carefully thought on the words and the scenario in which the Lord gave me.  I didn’t realize that I was fighting the Lord with my will.  I hadn’t completely surrendered my all to Him.  My devotion was that of writing poems, stories to compel others to get to know Him, but my life was not lining up to the requirements

I’m a good speaker.  I believe I have the gift of teaching, but where will all of that get me if I don’t ultimately know the Lord in an intimate way.  I have to die so that Jesus can live within me

We are the fish and Jesus is the fisherman

Just as the Lord revealed to me that I was fighting for my will instead of surrendering to His, this may be you

The sea we are swimming in is sin and Jesus has baited His hook with love and wants us to bite.  The transformation may seem as though we are giving up our life, but He wants to reassure us that we are not giving up our life, but inheriting a brand new one through Him!

The ‘Best’ Man by Blessed Magazine

Best-English-Man-Jokes-468

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! (1 Corinthians 15:57)

The story of Adam and Eve has been a popular tale from generation to generation.  The fall of man to sin to the exiling of the first man and woman from the Garden of Eden.  Man since that time have had difficulty staying on track and obeying God’s will

After all attempts to redeem man through select prophets, leaders and kings, God unfolded His master plan to send His only begotten Son, Jesus to rescue and redeem

No other person or thing could do what Jesus so faithfully done in that He willingly sacrificed His life and blood to bridge the gap between us and His Father

Jesus was and still is the Best Man for the job of Salvation.  Without His Blood covering our many sins, we shall have no part of eternal rest with Him and His Father

As Jesus explained to Peter in John 13: 6-8:

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?  Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.  Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me

Today, if you have not accepted Jesus (The Best Man) into your life; this moment is open to you to do so

If you want to accept Christ as your Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and Lord by praying a prayer like this:

“Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive me of my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.  I ask you into my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve you always

If you prayed this prayer today, congratulations and welcome to the first day of living within the realm of Jesus.  We encourage you to regularly attend church, read the Word of God with prayer and fasting and wait for the baptism of the Holy Spirit which shall teach you in all things and above all equip you with power from on high
